There’s a good chance that if you are currently reading this – you were at the last 80s night deej’d by DJ G last night at haileys. It seems as if in denton all good things must never come to an end. With DJ G moving on to better things, yours truly will be donning the coveted eighties cap for 2010 and beyond every thursday at haileys.
Its an honor to be taking over the 80s. After working clubs a little over a year – you notice a few things. Long-running monthlies are rare (hot flash). Weeklies that last more than a year are even more rare (cool out). I can’t think of anything that has lasted longer than the denton staple of 80′s Dance Night @ Haileys on thursday. OVER 5 YEARS RUNNING!!! DJ G has kept an entire college generation dancing to the eighties and then some. My friend cullen mentioned it in his short film – i thought that was a nice nod. its YELP site is glowing with mainly 80s night reviews. Its practically the standard weekend kickoff for the college crowd here in lil d. I think everyone i’ve ever known in denton has been to 80s night at some point, and most of my homies in dallas too.
but enough of me gushin on eighties night. my first one is jan 7th and i cant wait to take my place behind the decks and add another decade to my repertoire. thanks again denton (mainly it was just Ray that decided, thanks Ray!). DJ G we wish you the best (who knows? maybe he’ll be back every once and a while to drop some 80s on yall)
